© Provided by Auburn Wire© Provided by Auburn WireAuburn fans were in for quite a shock on Tuesday as freshman guard Justin Powell announced that he is entering the NCAA Transfer Portal.
One of the early stars of the season for the Tigers, Powell missed the final 16 games of the schedule due to a concussion suffered against Texas A&M on January 2.
Here is how Auburn fans reacted:
Isaac Okoro never got to play in an NCAA Tournament game & we never got to see Sharife & Justin Powell on the floor at the same time
The price was heavy for those missed New Mexico State free throws
— AUNerd (@AUSportsNerd) March 10, 2021Ok let’s just get this out of the way. I sincerely hope Justin Powell is healthy and cleared to play basketball soon.
Having said that:
Please don’t go to Kentucky.
Please don’t go to Kentucky.
Please don’t go to Kentucky.
It makes too much sense. I hate it.
— who do you think you are i am (@PabloEscobarner) March 9, 2021Justin Powell carried us through most of the non-conference season before getting hurt. I hate that he’s leaving but he’s been through a lot the last couple of months and I wish him nothing but the best going forward.
— Jaylin Williams Fan Account (@ShootyHoopsWill) March 9, 2021Justin Powell’s shots per game went down to 0.0 per game when Sharife Cooper started playing, because he was out with a brain injury literally the entire time https://t.co/PC1vhXNhwX
— Justin Ferguson (@JFergusonAU) March 9, 2021my sincerest hope in this world right now is that Justin Powell finds what he's looking for. I hate that it wasn't at Auburn. It really sucks that this season worked out like it did for Powell. best of luck, kiddo.
— joshdub (@joshdub_) March 9, 2021The Justin Powell news is surprising to most involved.
I will say, something didn’t feel right during his time away from the court. We’ll hopefully know more in the coming days.
*And if he ends up at Kentucky, I’ll be highly suspicious of tampering TBH.
— Justin Hokanson (@_JHokanson) March 10, 2021Me: happily scrolling thru Twitter then being hit with the Justin Powell transfer portal news. pic.twitter.com/QE9pTrujmM
— Auburn Tweeter (@Auburn_Tweeter) March 9, 2021Justin Powell is transferring because @JoshVitale didn’t have him in his projected starting lineup for next season 😔
— All Aubarn All Day (@AllAubarn) March 9, 2021Maybe Justin Powell transferring just means sharife is staying
— Pruce Bearl (@PruceB) March 9, 2021I hate that Justin Powell is transferring. But so is the nature of the game and when you have a talented, deep roster attrition is inevitable. For whatever reason.
Jamal Johnson is back. Trey Alexander is incoming. They all play the same position.
I just hope he’s healthy.
— who do you think you are i am (@PabloEscobarner) March 9, 2021i would like to say i wish Justin Powell the absolute best wherever he goes and hope he gets fully healthy. Adobe photoshop download cs5 for mac. it was a thrill to be able to watch him in an Auburn jersey this past year
— Drew (@orangeanddrew) March 9, 2021Late to the party on Justin Powell pic.twitter.com/jr4e021qVF
— Matt (@AU4thGen) March 10, 2021Currently me reacting to the Justin Powell transfer: pic.twitter.com/UeVvbXtfxY
— AUBURN SUPERFAN #2 (@FormerMrTRM) March 9, 2021I hate to see Justin Powell leave Auburn Basketball but that does not mean that @AuburnMBB is “falling apart”. Must be bammers saying that. #WarEagle
— LB4AU (@happy6262008) March 9, 2021Transfer Twitter Account
If Justin Powell transfers to Kentucky, I’m blaming Tony Barbee.
— Auburn Tweeter (@Auburn_Tweeter) March 10, 2021I had made at least 15 Justin Powell Memes ready to show the world upon his return now No1 will get to see them 😢 pic.twitter.com/oTp5IXgAWE
